Saturday, November 28

Some days are good, some days are crummy.  Today was the latter.  He's having some gastrointestinal issues that are part of the package deal you get with a spinal cord injury.  So most of today he felt nauseous and bloated.  All the pressure in his abdomen seemed to affect his heart rate (this is my totally non-medical opinion here) and he had a couple more episodes.  If things don't improve tomorrow they will probably put him back on dopamine to help regulate his heart rate.

He's asking for Pepsi pretty regularly and has been for a couple days.  Today he also asked about rehab and I'm pleased that he's able to think past this current discomfort (putting it mildly) and thinking about the future.

Here's hoping tomorrow is a better day.

  1. Hey, Sarah, Martha here. I check here everyday even though you send me e-mail updates. I'm so glad you thought to do this and I really hope you keep it up. It's good to keep a journal of all that Bill (and we) will go through. It's a long road, but we're willing to travel along with him. Much love to you all.

  2. Sarah,
I think about Billy and your family everyday and keep Billy in all my prayers. I too am grateful for the updates you are doing. I never saw a purpose for blogging until you set this up. We all appreciate knowing how you all are doing. Tell your dad he's on all our minds all the time and we'll help support him and Nancy on this journey. As a parent I know how a it is to suffer along with your child so my prayers are for strength and mercy.
    Love and Peace
    Debbie

  3. Sarah, I check your flickr site often and when I checked tonite and seen the picture of your brother and this blog site. I called Leslie to see if she new he had been in an accident. I will keep him and you and your family in prayer and will call tomorrow to have Bill placed on our prayer list at church. Thank you for doing this blog, I know it must be hard, but this will get a lot of prayers going up for him and that never hurts. Keep safe and well, Jeanne Ritchie (Leslie Smith's mom)
